We are a research group within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bologna. The overall objective of the SmartData Group is to exploit the information potential of the vast amount of digital data being generated through various platforms, in order to provide an interpretative support towards non-expert users. The team members' skills allow us to carry research in different topics. In particular, our research focuses on big data related to economy, healthcare and social media by processing and analyzing large set of tweets, images, clinical reports and socio-clinical data. Apart from large-scale data analytics the group is also active in the domain of text analytics, with a focus on temporal information retrieval and classification, and in the area of authorship attribution through text and images watermarking. We also assess digital platforms with respect to corporate organizations such as corporate reputations and digital platform competition and regulations to name a few.
